Palliative care at a hospice or hospital can make clients feel more like patients than people. That’s why we take a different approach, bringing the quality care you would expect from a hospital to your own home.
We can assist family carers on occasion or provide full 24/7 palliative care support, allowing you to spend quality time with their loved ones without worry.
Loved ones may be unable to take on the tasks needed to provide palliative care at home, but that shouldn’t mean that a person has to spend the rest of their life in a hospital or hospice. That’s why at Endeavour In Home Care, we offer all the support needed to ensure that our clients’ final days are spent in their own home.
We offer in-home palliative care for people living with a life-limiting illness, allowing you to live comfortably in a familiar environment and enjoy the best quality of life possible. Although we specialise in end of life care services for older Australians, we provide assistance to people of all ages in Melbourne.
We understand this is a difficult time for you and your loved ones, which is why we are here to offer our medical and emotional support. From the time you get in touch with us to the very final moments, we will be by your side to offer any and all support services you need.
Each client comes from a different background and requires differing levels of support for palliative care. That’s why our care managers do their best to find out what matters to you most so that we can assign you a carer that meets your physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural needs.
We’ve learnt over our many years in the business that a one-size-fits-all approach to palliative care simply doesn’t work, which is why we let you take the reins and decide what will make your remaining time feel the most meaningful. Our palliative care team is here to help in whichever ways you need, allowing clients and their families to take full control.
We are committed to not only minimising pain and discomfort, but also helping you to live the life you want to live. We’ve been told time and time again that it is the flexibility and client focus that sets us apart from other palliative care services, which is why we allow you to tailor your services to your individual needs. Respect and dignity are the two aspects at the forefront of our approach and inform everything we do at EIH Care.
Our nurses and carers are here to help in any way they can, including personal care and symptom management. We work with you to find solutions that improve your quality of life and ensure that your rights and preferences are respected. Some of the palliative care home services we can provide assistance with include:
Dementia Care
Companionship
Specialised Care
Respite Care
Support for Family members after their Loved one’s Passing
Advance Care Planning
Pain Management
House Cleaning and Personal Hygiene
Meal Prep and Planning
Medications and Health Treatments
Over the years we have established relationships with some of Melbourne’s best allied health professionals, allowing us to provide you with quality medical support. However, we understand that palliative care is not only about taking care of daily tasks and ensuring physical comfort – above all, we want to help you maintain your wellbeing across all facets of your life.
Those who are in the process of dying should consider creating an advanced care directive which documents your wishes for the remainder of your life should you be unable to articulate them yourself. This can include a Values Directive, which includes all the things you wish to be considered in your medical treatment, and an Instructional Directive, which outlines your consent and refusal of specific medical treatments.
Your Values Directive can include things like what matters most to you, who you wish to have a say in your care (partners, family members, friends, etc.), any preferences you have, and any outcomes you would like to avoid.
We ensure that your in-home palliative care is reflective of your wishes and manage your services accordingly.
We know that a lot of Melbourne families feel the strain when it comes to affording palliative care at home. We also know how important it is to surround yourself with the people you love and retain your autonomy during the dying process, something that only in-home care can provide. That’s why we aim to make our palliative care services as affordable as we can and can help you explore possible funding options.
